Focus on the various phases of the journey of a sexual assualt victim, and how each piece, from teh crisis line call, forensic examination, police report, investigation to prosecution should support the victim and lead to a favorable outcome.

Material Covered: SANE/SART will work together to revise the community sexual assault response protocol including:
-The dynamics of a coordinated response
-Individual agency responsibilities
-Preparing for trial and the victim-centered approach

Sexual Violence: Assault, Trafficking, and Exploitation
"Making the Case" with Key Note Speaker Dr. Sharon M. Cooper, M.D., FAAP

This training will bring together advocates, investigators, officers, prosecutors, nurses, and doctors for training in effective recognition and response to victims of sexual assault. They will learn how to work as an efficient team to prosecute cases, support victims, and ultimately make our community safer.

Material Covered:
-The various definitions and examples of sexual violence
-How to interview a victim for the purposes of medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment when sexual violence is concerned
-The four areas of medical complications for a sex trafficking victim
-How to rehabilitate the "bad" victim
